Stay Well Health Management
Pulaski County has taken steps to respond to a growing national concern regarding health related issues such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. In initiating a health promotion program (Wellness Program), we asked employees to participate in an on-line “Health Risk Assessment Survey” which measures important health risks and related factors that participants can improve through changes in health behaviors. Wellness and fitness professionals report that as much as 70% or all diseases are associated with modifiable health risks and personal behaviors and are therefore preventable.

At the end of February, 2006 a total of 310 Pulaski County employees had participated in the “on-line” health risk assessment survey offered through our health plan administrator, United Healthcare. The survey results are provided in the following Stay Well Health Management Summary as prepared by United Healthcare.

If you are enrolled in the County's United Healthcare plan, and you desire to increase your knowledge of your personal health risk factors, you may participate in the on-line assessment by visiting the website at www.myuhc.com. Health Insurance
Beginning in January 2002, Pulaski County began providing health/medical insurance coverage for eligible county employees through a self-funded plan. Effective January 1, 2005 the county's self-funded plan will be administered through United Healthcare (UHC).

Continuation of a self-funded insurance plan for county employees is beneficial because it allows the county to participate in plan benefits design and to monitor plan experience data on a weekly/monthly basis and total plan costs throughout the year.

For additional information regarding the county's health plan administration through United Healthcare, you are encouraged to visit the UHC website at www.myuhc.com - The customer service toll-free telephone number is 866-633-2479. For enrollment information, health benefits summary, etc. you may contact the County Human Resources Department at 340-6110.
